In the Red – First Floor Gallery Exhibit

The City of Santa Clarita Arts and Events Office is seeking art entries for an exhibit that will feature a variety of art featuring the color red prominently in the piece.  This exhibit will be featured in the First Floor Gallery at Santa Clarita City Hall and is open to artists located in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Project Description

The Arts and Events Office is seeking art for an upcoming exhibit titled “In the Red.”

Colors hold significance for people around the world. Not only do colors influence emotion, but they also hold meaning in religion and various cultures.  Red indicates excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, speed, strength, power, heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence, all things intense and passionate, and sincerity.  The meanings of red and people’s reactions to it tend to be fairly consistent across all age groups and cultures. Psychologists and researchers agree that Red is a color which stirs up passion, with both negative and positive color meanings.  We are looking for art that features, highlights or uses the color red exclusively in an artwork.

The exhibit will be on display from November 17, 2017 to February 18, 2018.
