Arts Commission Recognizes Outgoing Commissioner Gary Choppe

Each month the Arts Commission recognizes individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution to the artistic and cultural life of the Santa Clarita   Valley. This month the Commission presented a very special recognition honoring Gary Choppe for his service on the Arts Commission for the last four years.

Gary brought his passion for the arts and his deep understanding of the Santa Clarita community to his role on the Commission, which was very beneficial, particularly in the development of the Arts Master Plan. Gary focused on several projects while on the Commission, including leading discussions about the arts events produced by the City, advocating for expanding the public relations and marketing of the arts, and he served, with Commissioner Michael Millar, as the leads for the Arts Master Plan Stakeholder Committee.

Arts Commission Chair, Patti Rasmussen, said in presenting the recognition, “I know that my fellow Arts Commissioners and the City staff will miss you Gary, not just for your contributions to the arts, but also for your positive outlook,         your can-do attitude, and most importantly for your friendship and guidance as the Commission evolved from a newly formed group to an organization that has defined goals, a shared vision, and has created a roadmap for how to improve the artistic and cultural life of Santa Clarita for the future.”
