ARTree Community Arts Center
The ARTree builds community by providing opportunities to nurture creative thinking and expression through the unique power of the arts. ARTree is a non-profit arts center, located in Newhall, California. Started in 2010, with a commitment to bringing art opportunities to all ages, ARTree has developed deep roots in our community. ARTree holds weekly classes, monthly free open studios, promotes volunteerism, and spearheads public art projects throughout Santa Clarita. ARTree classes teach artistic principles utilizing an active, hands-on approach in small class settings. Our teaching staff of artists bring their expertise and enthusiasm in a wide range of mediums. Grow with us!
Flutterby Open Art Studio is a free, monthly event held the first Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m.-1 p.m. Families can create together, with multiple projects to try. Because our studio spaces are small, please register in advance using the button below:

CalArts Community Arts Partnership
The award-winning CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP), a co-curricular program of CalArts, offers free after-school and school-based arts programs for youth ages 4-18 in every discipline taught at the Institute. Programs are offered at public schools, community centers and social service agencies, covering a 1,000-square-mile radius across Los Angeles County. With classes led by a teaching corps of accomplished CalArts faculty, alumni and student instructors, CAP participants learn to create original works of art and to experiment with prevailing conventions of artistic expression. CAP’s success has served as a model for other arts education organizations locally and nationally. The program has received numerous honors, including the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, which recognizes exemplary programs that foster the creative and intellectual development of America’s children.
California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA)
The California State Summer School for the Arts is a rigorous, preprofessional, month-long training program in the visual and performing arts, creative writing, animation and film for talented artists of high school age. CSSSA provides a supportive environment in which students hone acquired skills and explore new techniques and ideas for an intense and exciting learning experience. The school was created by the California Legislature, and held its first session in 1987. Its purpose is to provide a training ground for future artists who wish to pursue careers in the arts and entertainment industries in California. The California State Summer School for the Arts is a state agency funded through a unique public-private partnership. California residents enrolled in grades nine through twelve may apply to attend CSSSA. Students from outside of California may also apply; twenty are admitted each year. Participants are selected in the spring, on the basis of their talent and creativity as demonstrated through assignments and teacher recommendations. The student body is representative of the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of the state. The admissions process is highly competitive. (Last session approximately one in three applicants in most departments were accepted). Students invited to the school are named California Arts Scholars.
Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley: The Arts
The arts programs enable youth in Santa Clarita to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Club members receive training in digital arts including photography, photo illustration, filmmaking, 3D printing, music making, stop motion animation, and web design, while introducing them to possibilities for future careers. Our annual Fine Arts Contest, Digital Arts Festivals and Talent Shows encourage creativity and artist expression while everyday art projects with clay, paints and wood give young people many avenues for personal expression.
