Painting became a true love for Laurie Morgan after years in the entertainment field. She gets a thrill rendering on canvas the sights she sees in her travels around the world. She is intrigued by historical architecture, and most of her work contains part of a house, castle, cottage, cabin, barn or other structure. Many of her paintings have windows or doors, arches and pathways, which she sees as adventure, surprise and levels of spirituality. She’s also fascinated by man’s use of natural substances, such as stone, brick, and wood, and she often adds these to her work as well. She equally loves flowers and gardens and tries to include them wherever she can. She’s also partial to every shade of blue and often paints seascapes so she can embrace every hue. Along with seascapes, landscapes, architecture and still life, she accept commissions.
Laurie’s art has been exhibited at The Gallery of Santa Clarita, The Lonny Chapman Theatre in Noho, JET Studios in Noho, the Canyon Theatre Guild and Repertory East Playhouse in Old Town Newhall, Fast Frame Valencia, The Valley Fair, and other art fairs and shows throughout LA County. After raising a family, she rediscovered her creative side and began performing again while taking art classes. Realizing an aptitude for painting, she made a commitment to paint every week, and soon her work evolved into her own personal style.
Laurie served as President of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association in 2010 and 2012, Chair and co-chair of their Annual Art Classic for 4 years, and various positions as a Board member since 2007.
Active as a community volunteer in Art Education in Santa Clarita, Laurie has been a Judge for PTA Art Reflections programs in elementary and middle schools as well as the Annual Congressional Art District competition for high school students and other Community art competitions.
