SCVTV is the 501c3 nonprofit community service organization that operates the Santa Clarita Valley's public television channel under contract with the City of Santa Clarita, Santa Clarita Community College District (College of the Canyons), the William S. Hart Union High School District and the Saugus, Newhall, Sulphur Springs and Castaic school districts. SCVTV is responsible for funding the television operations and does so through private donations, grants and local business support.
SCVTV operates the community's Media Center, where SCVTV staff members and volunteers generate original, hyper-local content for the channel. The SCVTV Media Center is the central hub for local businesses, schools and local organizations to connect with their target audience.
With approximately 85% penetration on cable and close to 100% penetration on the Internet, SCVTV reaches every point of the Santa Clarita Valley. The channel is televised on Time Warner Cable Channel 20 and AT&T U-verse Channel 99; satellite customers watch SCVTV online at SCVTV.com. The channel streams live, and all shows are archived for "24/7 forever" playback. SCVTV makes extensive use of social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
SCVTV is comprised of several elements. In addition to the SCVTV.com video site, our online news center, SCVNews.com, provides local breaking news, sports, business, entertainment and event coverage, and more. SCVTV owns and operates SCVHistory.com, which is the community's history archive and online research library; and SCVTV provides CougarNews.com for the COC Media Arts Department. Together, the SCVTV websites form the largest local multimedia footprint in the Santa Clarita Valley.
