Western Stardust Augmented Reality App is an immersive new augmented reality (AR) experience that connects the Santa Clarita community to both its rich local history and the wonder of the cosmos. This dynamic app invites users to engage with the Walk of Western Stars in an entirely new and imaginative way.
Created by artist and UCLA professor Victoria Vesna, Ph.D., in collaboration with designer and interactive media artist Yichen Pan, Western Stardust transforms the historic walk into an interactive, celestial experience. Participants can explore interactive 3D saddles by scanning the stars along the Walk of Western Stars or transform into “Western Stars” themselves, surrounded by shimmering golden stardust. This celestial dust not only honors Hollywood’s silver screen legends but also connects to Santa Clarita’s history of gold mining and its legacy as a hub for Western film production. With permission, participants can submit their starry portraits to a digital community gallery on the Western Stardust website.
