The ALOHA BROHA exhibit celebrates Cyrus’ love for the iconography and silhouettes related to west coast culture. His signature cyan, magenta, yellow, and key black (CMYK) color palette and his unique gestural, rhythmic pattern convey the energy associated with the street and beach culture along with its attitude. Cyrus has taken his art to a broader audience and made it more accessible by painting his pattern on various clothing pieces by big name brands and on personal garments owned by his followers to create unique wearable art.
“Growing up in the Central Valley, summer vacation meant trips to the beach. The skate culture I grew up with, my dreams about surf culture, and my love for the ocean are what inspired me throughout my work. Aloha Broha is a personal greeting of mine. I say it every day. It’s just that laid back mentality; don’t stress, take a chill pill.” – Cyrus
Residents are invited to attend a free art reception on Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Participants will enjoy light appetizers, entertainment, and a chance to meet the artist.
