In  collaboration with CalArts, this site-specific video installation project will include projection mapped

images sourced from public domain western movies projected onto the side

of a building in Old Town Newhall as well as onto a nearby tree. The

imagery projected and mapped onto the tree will include close-ups of noted

movie stars from the history of western film and will be in black and white.

This will include numerous shots of iconic western actors and actresses

from films produced in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The images projected onto the building will be of wider shots with more

action and will be abstracted and color manipulated using various video

image processing hardware and software. Both the projection onto the

building and the tree will be accurately mapped to the exact outline of those

objects using the projection mapping software Madmapper. The result is a

spectacle that is visually engaging, educational and a delight for people of

all ages.
