Experience a day of creativity at the 9th Annual Youth Arts Showcase on Saturday, March 15t! In celebration of Youth Art Month, the Newhall Community Center will become a vibrant hub of live performances and artistic expressions by talented youth in Santa Clarita.
Explore the Youth Art Gallery to see incredible student artwork, enjoy live music, dance, and theater performances, and dive into hands-on arts and crafts activities. With face painting, caricature artists and food trucks to keep the fun going, this event is a perfect opportunity to celebrate and support the arts in education. Don’t miss this day full of fun, art and inspiration.
Performing Arts Stage
Located on the outdoor stage at the Newhall Community Center, watch music, dance and theatre performances by local youth-based performing groups.

Youth Arts Gallery
View original artwork submitted by young artists and authors in the Painters, Pictures & Prose Contest. Up to 20 of the top submissions in the visual arts category and literary arts category are exhibited in the Youth Arts Gallery during the event.
Hands-on Craft Stations
Bring out your inner artist at a variety of hands-on craft stations hosted by local arts organizations and nonprofits.
Arts Education
Learn a new dance with instructors from a local dance company, practice your rhythm in a drum circle, and participate in many more creative activities!
Painters, Pictures & Prose Contest
The Youth Arts Showcase Painters, Pictures & Prose Contest is an annual visual and literary arts contest showcasing the artistic talents of youth in our community. Public, private and homeschooled students, grades K-12, within the City of Santa Clarita are invited every year to submit their original work to the contest. The contest showcases young artists’ original work in the following categories:
Visual Arts Category
- Visual art – Paintings and drawings
- Photography
- Digital
Literary Arts Category
- Poetry
- Short story
- Personal essay
Grade Divisions:
Grades K-2
Grades 3-5
Grades 6-8
Grades 9-12
Awards
First, second, and third place awards for BEST OVERALL will be given in each grade division for both the visual arts and literary arts categories. Additionally, up to 20 top submissions from each division in each category will be showcased at the Youth Arts Showcase.
Santa Clarita Sister Cities Young Artists & Authors Showcase
Artists aged 13-18 can also qualify for the Santa Clarita Sister Cities Young Artists & Authors Showcase, a separate contest with the same theme. Please note that the theme is specific to the Santa Clarita Sister Cities Young Artists & Authors Showcase, and is not required for artwork submitted to the Pictures, Painters and Prose Contest.
