Exhibition Coming Later This Year to:
Westfield Valencia Town Center
24201 Valencia Blvd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355

The Youth Arts Showcase that was scheduled in March unfortunately had to be cancelled. The annual YAS celebrates the creativity of Santa Clarita Valley’s youth from Kindergarten through High School. The art contest gives students an opportunity to submit their art to be displayed, and although the show in March did not happen, we have created this virtual gallery for students, parents, family and the community to enjoy. There is also a planned exhibition at Westfield Valencia Town Center sometime later this year.

Gathering
Solo show by Liang Zhang

As I am interested in combing organism and the precise grid system together and the effects of these systems on individuals. I found that the format is not limited to three dimensional objects, but also the flatter appearance as we can see on screen and paper. And that brings up a question to me of how to transform and simplify a stereo idea into a highly concentrated surface – make a communicational efficient media to address a goal and atmosphere. I aspire to make a charge and exert influence on people’s outlook with the help of my works, as artists put into effect their innovative ideas that have substantial impact on the society.

I put most of my vigor on making sculptures and installations, which addresses issues related to the strict regulations and the softness of nature in contemporary society. This series of work is aimed to transform and simplify a stereo idea into a highly concentrated surface.

Carlos Batchelor
Unique Mixed Media Art

Originally from Panama, Carlos is a self-taught Mixed Media artist who always appreciated art but never had any intentions of becoming an artist.

After a search for new art for his living room wall was unfruitful, he decided to create one himself. Deciding what medium to use started as a challenge, but became clear one day as he was about to throw a couple of eggshells away. Could this work if he was to crush it, glue it to a canvas then paint it? Why not give it a try! He was pleased with the result and weeks later received compliments from friends and family.

Over time he went from just using crushed eggshells to other repurposed items like drinking straws, leaves, etc., but it was the suggestion from a co-worker to used shredded CDs as a medium that really took his next pieces to a whole new level. As an art admirer, Carlos always gravitated to artists whose work seemed to be constantly evolving, so it seems natural that this would be Carlos’ goal: to try to find new expressions of mixed media art with his preferred mediums all the while giving his audience new manifestations of his creativity and love for art.
