“Reality Optional: The Unhinged Wit of Phil Althouse” features digital work from Los Angeles based artist Phil Althouse who is fascinated by the challenge of telling a story and injecting humor and theatrical timing into a single still image.
Phil Althouse is an award-winning fine art photographer based in Los Angeles. Originally from the San Francisco area, Althouse moved to Hollywood and spent the bulk of his career in the film and television industry. The comedy and drama of “the industry” has informed his photography ever since. He became fascinated by the challenge of telling a story and injecting humor and theatrical timing into a single still image. In 2010, one of his nature images was chosen from a field of 45,000 for an exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. One reviewer called his body of work “An extraordinary mix of classical photography, inventive modern imagery and devilish eye for humor.”
The Santa Clarita community is invited to the latest art exhibit reception at The MAIN in Old Town Newhall.
