Pablo Azar is a successful Mexican-American actor and painter. Known worldwide for his
participation in both Latin and American TV series and movies, he has made a name for himself
after more than 15 years of an impeccable and arduous career.

Through his great passion for the performing and visual arts, Pablo’s undeniable talent,
creativity and unique profoundness guides his spectators to discover a world full of color, life
and the most unexpected of treasures in each and every one of his artworks. He is considered to be a
pop surrealist artist who created a very unique painting style he named “Toonymania” in which he
takes us on a fantastic journey beyond the evident. His main objective is to make us, the observer,
gaze upon his artwork, losing ourselves in a timeless dimension where he invites us to discover
what Pablo himself denotes as “his creatures.” In perfect harmony, his multiple and diverse “creatures”
fuse together creating one, bigger and complete picture.

Toonymania art has a very special characteristic, giving it a particularity of its own. Every time
the spectator stands in front of any one of his paintings will be a memorable experience since
there is so much to discover. His paintings are composed of many elements, “creatures,” each
representing something specific yet creating a larger and deeper composition. There is a story
to be told in each of his artworks.

Dancing Leaf Spirits

August 10, 2021 through October 15, 2021

Town Center Art Space, Westfield Valencia Town Center
24201 Valencia Blvd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355

Artist Reception: Wednesday, August 25, 2021 | 6 – 8 pm

Dancing Leaf Spirits is a site-specific installation of leaves and other materials gathered from the local SoCal region (including whirlybird seed pods from around the WVTC’s turtle pond) that are embellished with metallic-leaf, then pinned upon the wall in a style reminiscent of mandalas. The ancient geometric patterns were used by various spiritual traditions as a tool that helped focus the mind for the art of meditation and also acted as a divine map of the cosmos.

In this day and age, there are so many ways we are disconnected from the natural environment. By creating these inspiring geometric patterns and using leaves from the surrounding region, Jenn aims to re-establish a connection between the natural world, the gallery space, and the viewer. Despite its meager size, the complex structure of a leaf is a thing of beauty in and of itself. It inspires many meanings and possibilities. Even in death, the dried form is intimately connected with life. As part of nature’s sublime cycle, it will return to the earth via decomposition to feed other forms of life. The addition of metallic-leaf on the leaves (a knowing pun) reminds the viewer of nature’s divinity and echoes the use of precious metals in holy items throughout cultures.

“I encourage and invite viewers to develop a unique relationship with the mandalas, whatever form that may take. Whether one slows down to admire the details or has a quick moment to take a selfie, each possesses its own particular merits in this context as both are reinserting themselves into a symbolic reconnection with and appreciation of nature.”

Jason Jenn is an interdisciplinary multimedia artist. His works vary in roles as performer, writer, visual artist, director, producer, designer, curator, and video editor. He creates for exhibition on stage, on screen, on the page, in galleries, and at site-specific locations. Discover more at JasonJenn.com.

In the dictionary a mosaic is usually defined as something larger which
is created by inlaying small pieces of variously colored (hard surfaced)
materials. Part of the inspiration for this exhibit was to reflect a few of
the various ethnicities that are part of the bigger human canvas known
as the United States of America or simply America. There is a popular
saying that “in unity there’s strength,” so if we apply this to America
then her strength rests on the unity of her parts or her “mosaic.” Hence
it’s of ultimate importance to keep America beautiful, united and strong
by ensuring that her inlays remain colorful, sturdy and well bonded!

Artist Statement
Originally from Panama, Carlos is a Los Angeles based, self-taught,
Mixed Media artist whose works are often crafted with repurposed
materials like shredded cds, crushed eggshells, rubber bands, decorative
glass fillers, drinking straws, wine corks and fine stone granules, among
a growing list. While many artists prefer to hone in to a particular style,
topic or pattern, Carlos likes taking his art style and topics in a variety of
directions. Be it portraits of everyday people or celebrities, abstracts,
flowers, animals or scenery “mixing it up and creating with new
materials” is his ultimate goal. He often says “I hope that everyone will
find that they like at least one of my pieces, so I can’t stop
experimenting.”

Don’t . . . Spray It

The MAIN

Reception: Thursday, August 19, 2020 | 7 – 10 pm

Don’t…Spray It is an indoor mural and graffiti art show that celebrates community, togetherness and a passion for life in Los Angeles.

Don’t…Spray It, is about graffiti, street art made with spray paint, but not as you know it. The colors and brightness of the pieces resound and glow on the walls as if in a dance which celebrates this shared moment in time with a focus on the positive outlook we all crave. While street art is growing in popularity across the world, the works on display at Don’t…Spray It are uniquely powerful and haven’t been celebrated on our streets or galleries until now. Don’t expect to see expressions of outrage and disdain: instead, spray-painted works on walls, panels and canvas, with a message of peace, love and inclusion are on display here.

“My inspiration comes from the beauty I see in all of God’s Creation.” – Artist Jose Barba
“From the beautiful colors of the sun rising over the mountains in the morning to the light shining through a translucent wave at sunset. My hope is that my art would be an outward expression of the light coming from within.”

“In my most recent project, ‘Recycled Art’, I repurpose elements cut from my own artwork and my photos to create new Mixed Media Collages.” – Artist Lynda Frautnick
I have always wanted to be an artist, but life always got in the way. However, in retirement I was able to reinvent myself. I started with workshops in Chinese Watercolor and fell in love with the medium. Eight years later, I quite accidentally discovered Alcohol Ink and have spent five years teaching myself and refining my techniques with these vibrant inks. During the pandemic last year, I began taking online classes in Abstract Acrylic. At present, I’m obsessed with the cutting up old art work to recycle and repurpose into Mixed Media Collage. I am a member of Santa Clarita Artists Association and Women Painters West, and I finally call myself an artist.

“I often paint outdoors making my watercolors brighter and more transparent.” – Artist Jeanne Iler
